Position Title: Assistant Early Childhood Educator – Pre School/ Junior Kindergarten/ Senior Kindergarten

Atikali Learning Lab is an Early Years Centre (Pre- Kindergarten to Senior Kindergarten) that provides, firstly, a nurturing, safe, and child friendly environment for our young learners to imagine, explore, create, invent, and ultimately understand their world! Atikali Learning Lab Inc. is seeking an Assistant Early Childhood Educator who will support the Lead Early Childhood Educator in delivering a high-quality early childhood education program. This role involves assisting with the planning and implementation of educational activities, maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment, and fostering the development of each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in Curriculum Implementation:
- Assist in the planning and execution of a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Facilitate learning activities that promote children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Prepare educational materials and classroom resources as directed by the Lead Educator.
- Classroom Management:
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Support the establishment and enforcement of classroom rules and routines.
- Assist in the supervision of children during activities, meals, and rest periods.
- Child Observation and Assessment:
- Observe and document children’s progress and behaviors.
- Assist in conducting developmental assessments under the guidance of the Lead Educator.
- Provide feedback to parents and caregivers as necessary, under supervision.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Assist in preparing for and participating in parent-teacher meetings and community events.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, caregivers, and community members.
- Support the integration of cultural and community-based activities into the curriculum.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to team discussions and planning.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Prior experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Basic proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working with young children and may require lifting, bending, and being on the floor.
- The role is based at Atikali Learning Lab and involves both indoor and outdoor activities.
- The Assistant Early Childhood Educator must be able to handle a dynamic and occasionally noisy environment.
Reporting: The Assistant Early Childhood Educator will report to the Lead Early Childhood Educator and the Head of Learning Development.
Duration: This is a full-time position with 40 hours per week.
