We Break Boundaries To Craft Extraordinary Experiences.

Center-based care and education for 4-5-year-olds provides rich and stimulating learning experiences and plays a critical role in supporting children’s development across multiple domains and setting the stage for future academic achievement, social competence, and lifelong learning.

At Atikali Learning Lab we commit to the following development goals for our Senior Kindergarteners:

    1. School Readiness: to help children develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a smooth transition to formal schooling. We provide structured learning experiences that focus on early literacy, numeracy, STEM, social studies, social skills, and self-regulation, ensuring that children are prepared for the academic and social demands of Primary school. This is accomplished in a developmentally appropriate manner, through hands-on activities, interactive experiences, and structured learning opportunities, where children build essential skills and knowledge that serve as a basis for future academic success. Academics notwithstanding, The Senior Kindergarten programme helps children become familiar with the routines, expectations, and structures of formal schooling, easing the transition to Primary school. Children learn essential skills such as following directions, staying on task, and working independently, setting them up for success.
    2. Cognitive Development: at this age, children’s cognitive abilities are rapidly developing. Atikali offers stimulating environments where children are encouraged to explore, inquire, and problem-solve through hands-on experiences, inquiry-based learning, and open-ended activities that support their cognitive growth. These experiences help children develop critical thinking skills, creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning as they engage with new ideas, concepts, and materials.
    3. Social and Emotional Development: where there are unlimited opportunities for children to interact with peers and adults in a supportive and nurturing environment. They can explore and express their emotions, develop self-regulation skills, and build resilience. Teachers offer guidance and support to help children manage their feelings, cope with challenges, and develop a positive sense of self-esteem and self-confidence. Through group activities, classroom routines, collaborative play, and positive adult-child interactions, children learn important social skills such as cooperation, empathy, sharing, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. They also develop emotional resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging, which are essential for their overall well-being and success in school and life. Atikali children also develop friendships and learn to navigate social interactions, laying the foundation for positive relationships and social competence.

    4. Language and Literacy Development: where our programme focuses on promoting, through rich language experiences, early language and literacy skills, including vocabulary development, phonological awareness, print awareness, and comprehension. Through storytelling, rhyming activities, letter recognition games, hands-on literacy experiences, vocabulary-building activities, and opportunities for oral expression, children build a strong foundation for reading and writing success. Children learn to listen, speak, and communicate effectively, laying the groundwork for future literacy development and academic achievement.
    5. Physical Development: so that there are opportunities for children to engage in active play, outdoor exploration, and structured physical activities that promote gross motor skills, coordination, and physical fitness. These experiences support children’s overall health and well-being, as well as their ability to participate in physical activities and sports in the future. Children develop strength, balance, and spatial awareness as they participate in games, exercises, and movement-based activities both indoors and outdoors.
    6. Parent and Family Engagement: so we can provide opportunities for parents and families to be actively involved in their children’s learning and development. We offer parent education workshops, family events, and opportunities for parent-teacher communication and collaboration, fostering strong partnerships between home and school that support children’s learning and success.
