Terms of Reference (TOR) for Early Childhood Educator
Position Title: Early Childhood Educator – Pre School/ Junior Kindergarten/ Senior Kindergarten

Atikali Learning Lab is an Early Years Centre (Pre- Kindergarten to Senior Kindergarten) that provides, firstly, a nurturing, safe, and child friendly environment for our young learners to imagine, explore, create, invent, and ultimately understand their world! We seek to provide world-class immersive education experiences that defy traditional teaching. An education that engages, inspires, and empowers every learner by creating a more holistic and dynamic approach to learning, through an integration system, focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, the creative and expressive Arts, Mathematics, and the natural environment.
Atikali Learning Lab Inc. is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator who will warmly nurture and enhance the development of young learners within the early childhood education setting, ensuring a solid foundation for future academic and socio-emotional success.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development:
- Adopt and implement a specialized curriculum tailored for early childhood education, aligning with national and international standards.
- Integrate age-appropriate concepts into play-based and hands-on learning activities.
- Lesson Planning and Delivery:
- Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children aged 15 months to 5 years old.
- Use innovative teaching methods to make concepts accessible and enjoyable for young learners.
- Learning Resources:
- Identify, create, and adapt learning resources that support the curriculum.
- Ensure the availability of age-appropriate manipulatives, games, and technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Implement ongoing assessment strategies to monitor each child’s progress.
- Provide timely feedback to parents and caregivers on their child’s development and suggest ways to support learning at home.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education.
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other early childhood educators to create inter-disciplinary and multi-sensory activities.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, encouraging their involvement in supporting development at home.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities.
- Inclusive Practices:
- Implement inclusive teaching practices that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
- Respect and celebrate diversity within the classroom.
- Technology Integration:
- Integrate age-appropriate educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences as a regular resource in the day-to-day life of the classroom.
- Provide guidance on responsible and beneficial screen time practices.
- Demonstrate proficiency with educational technology (equipment and applications).
- Encourage students to utilize various technology as part of their formative and summative assessments.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess 1 or a combination of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field i.e. Primary Education.
- Associate degree in education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education.
- Specialization or certification in Early Childhood Education CVQ Level II.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of early childhood care and education.
- Strong understanding of child development principles.
- Proficiency in creating engaging and age-appropriate learning materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use technology effectively in the teaching and learning process.
- Understanding of inclusive education principles.
- Proficient in implementing diverse teaching methods.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in early childhood settings.
- Receptive to continuous professional learning
Reporting: The Early Childhood Educator will report to the Head of Learning Development.
Duration: This is a full-time position with hours of work aligned to the national labor laws of Guyana.
